Etihad unveiled this special livery to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in late November 2018. The aircraft participated in a low-level fly-by at the Formula 1 race, accompanied by the airline’s Year of Zayed liveried Airbus A380. Note the "low-viz" variation of the Etihad scheme.

The Formula 1 made its debut in the United Arab Emirates in 2009 at the Abu Dhabi Yas Marina Circuit built for the occasion. As the state airline Etihad was a logical sponsor choice and the partnership has continued since. The titles include the current year and were changed accordingly. Following the unveiling of A340-600 A6-EHJ in a spectacular full F1 scheme, stickers were added fleetwide from the month of April.

Titles were partly in red until 2014 but changed to mostly black from the 2015 GP. With the rollout of the new Etihad scheme, stickers were moved to the engines in a smaller size.

As the state airline Etihad was a logical sponsor choice and the partnership has continued since. The titles include the current year and are changed accordingly. This aircraft made a low-pass on the occasion of the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 1 November 2009.

The special livery of the A340, the flagship of the airline at the time, was unveiled at Airbus' Hamburg Finkenwerder plant in early 2009 and has helped Etihad raise the global awareness of its relatively young brand.

It was announced in 2007 that Abu Dhabi would host a F1 Grand Prix starting 2009 and by late 2007 Etihad was the sponsor of the new race.

The first of two aircraft in a special livery to promote this yearly event was unveiled in January 2008 in the shape of this all-black A320, which premiered at the Al Ain Air Show on January 28, 2008 where it made a low-pass. This frame also took part in an aircraft vs V8 Supercar race (see here).
